The novel Corona Virus pandemic is not a just a health crisis in our country. It is a bigger humanitarian crisis that has put the lives and livelihoods of daily wage earners and their families at risk. And we are doing our bit to provide some relief and hope where it is needed.
We have been working closely with BMC to identify the workers and their families who need our support to survive. A large part of our work is in the most vulnerable settlements where basic services that you and I take for granted are either sketchy or simply absent.
We are sending out 2000 freshly prepared meals every day to families across Mumbai who do not have cooking facilities. For those who have, we are distributing ration kits, and have sent out 3500 of them to Govandi, Colaba, Lower Parel, Thane and Navi Mumbai. Next on the map are Jogeshwari, Dharavi and Bandra East. Every ration kit has rice, atta, daals, salt and oil that can meet the needs of a family of four-five for fifteen days.
Our volunteers and relief workers are being given masks, gloves and sanitisers as well as education to maintain proper hygiene.
